Now here’s an album that bridges the generation divide! Taking over three years to create, Verve Remixed is an eclectic collection of jazz infused songs that have been electronically tweaked for a new audience—jazz purists be warned! The celebrated jazz label Verve has invited remixers to give a new life to old standards featuring such legends as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan amongst others. Note that there are no huge house anthems here. Instead, Verve Remixed, offers a much more contemplative look into Jazz, with a Chill Out and Electronica twist. Whereas the entire album exudes a feel good vibe packaged in a polished downtempo collection, one can only wonder why Verve selected pieces that are far from la crème de la crème of their massive jazz vault. Still, it is fresh, innovative and respectful to the original music and a pleasure for the ears.
